1962 AMI II Continental 200 Vinyl Jukebox

1962 AMI II Continental 200 Vinyl Jukebox

The AMI II Continental was launched at an exciting time in American history – humanity was discovering space travel, a frontier previously untouched by human civilisation. The AMI Continental jukebox celebrated this by exploring an entirely revolutionary design, produced by the Automatic Musical Instrument Company.

The pioneering ‘Sputnik’ design comprises a wrap-around title strip holder hovering serenely above the record changer, which is contained in a parabolic, space-age bubble on the machine’s body. The gentle illumination subtly enhances its golden trim and soft cabinet colours. Its unique construction gives the jukebox a distinctive silhouette, and was intended by AMI to set a ‘new standard of style’.

The Continental features AMI’s wonderful analogue sound system, which produces a genuine vinyl to valve sound, giving it a clear authentic tone. The mechanism introduced as standard on jukeboxes of the time allows 200 selections; both sides of 100 45rpm vinyl records.

The AMI II Continental 200 vinyl jukebox is a charming snapshot of the American ideals of the time – beautifully capturing the hope, anticipation and pride that the space-race era brought for the common man.

The Continental became very popular in the early 1990's when one was used in the hit movie 'Ghost' starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.

All of our vintage products are sourced to order and restored in our workshops in Surrey by our talented in-house team.

We offer a grade A1 restoration as standard. We do not use a 'restoration checklist' as every component is checked and refurbished as part of our uncompromising refurbishment process.

We are thorough and comprehensive throughout and are striving to deliver a machine that is near to how it came out of the factory. All of our restoration work is guaranteed by our one-year on-site parts and labour warranty.

The Automatic Musical Instrument Company (AMI) played a pioneering role in jukebox history. Their roots go back to 1909 when they made automatic player pianos. This experience with automatic selection mechanisms proved useful when they entered the jukebox scene in 1927. Their first model, the National Automatic Selective Phonograph, offered 20 selections and could play both sides of records, a feature that remained a standard for AMI jukeboxes for the next three decades.

Music Services

This Ami Continental II holds a total of 100 records (200 selections) and has a curved display window for title cards, allowing you to easily view the tracks.

Why not sign up to our Music Service and take the work out of creating the title cards with our level one option for vinyl jukeboxes?

Music Service Level One: Creation and installation of up to 100 title cards for the display window.

Please note, the Music Service does not include supply of records but these can be purchased separately.
Music is the DNA of our business, so if you are stuck for inspiration or need to acquire vinyl for your Jukebox we are able to help you source and create the perfect playlist.

Typically the price for vintage records is £15 + VAT per record, however more collectable records are charged at a higher price. We have a stringent quality process when purchasing records, working closely with our suppliers to ensure we supply records with playable "A" and "B" sides. Once sourced, the centres are then cut (dinked), so they can be used in a jukebox. Finally they are hand washed and then played both "A" and "B" sides for sound quality. We are committed to delivering high quality sound for our clients and if you are investing in a vinyl jukebox, whether restored or new, you can be assured we won't compromise on quality.
