2019 Elvira's House of Horrors Premium Edition Pinball Machine by Stern
The taunting is over and the haunting begins in the third instalment of the Elvira pinball trilogy!Â
Trying to sell her mansion through âAlternate Realtyâ, Elviraâs house is haunted by the movie characters from her past. These ghouls, ghosts, monsters, and strange assortment of vintage characters with horrific acting skills seek revenge on Elvira while she and the player confront them, sending them back to the âfilmâ from which they came!  Elviraâs House of Horrors immerses players in a fun, campy, B-movie universe filled with all of the humour expected from the Mistress of the Dark including custom speech and, in a pinball first, exclusive filming of Elvira for custom video scenes featured throughout the game!
The Premium model features Elviraâs âHouse of Horrorsâ, a frightening Victorian fixer-upper, full of creepy charm and supernatural surprises. Players can gain access to the mansion through the front door, the cellar, or through the garage which is guarded by a gravestone drop-target.Â
An orchestra of color changing RGB lights accentuates the house in sync with the different âHouse Hauntsâ featured throughout the game. Lighted windows and a spinning attic turret track the playersâ progression on their pinball journey.
If a haunted mansion wasnât enough to keep your skin crawling, beware of the âDeadhead Family Cryptâ! This mausoleum houses a variety of characters that need an awakening courtesy of a steel silver ball to their head. This interactive crypt will keep players on their toes with the Crypt entrance unleashing balls from a separate location while also becoming a physical bash toy. And with Elviraâs pending move from her hopeful home sale, the interactive Elviraâs âJunk in the Trunkâ toy allows players to lock balls for a frantic two-ball multiball.
âIt was a pleasure to work directly with the Mistress of the Dark on this third collaboration,â said Gary Stern, Chairman and CEO of Stern Pinball, Inc. Â âElviraâs House of Horrorspinball is a haunting fun time!â
One of the giants of the pinball industry, Stern can trace its lineage back to the 1930âs when these games first became popular in bars and restaurants. Sam Stern began as an operator and then made an audacious bid for the Williams Manufacturing Company in 1947, reasoning that if he could successfully operate the machines he could probably manage a manufacturing business too.
The bid was accepted and throughout the 50âs and 60âs he worked hard alongside the original owner Harry Williams to turn the company into a major player, eventually bringing in his son Gary who shared his passion for pinball. During the 1980âs and 1990âs the industry saw considerable upheaval, with coin operated video games coming to the fore and several of the original pinball manufacturers being acquired by the new players. Gary Stern founded a new company, Data East Pinball, in 1986 following his fatherâs death and then and sold it to Sega in 1994. In 1999 he bought the business back and it has continued to go from strength to strength.
These days the company continues to dominate the scene, having released many popular games in the last decade such as Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Shrek, Batman and Spiderman.
